Death rates from COVID-19 are higher for people who live in areas with even slightly more air pollution than for those in places with cleaner air. Our state needs leaders to understand the connection between access to quality medical care, clean air, clean water and positive health outcomes. This year, Dale DeVon voted in favor of House Bill 1414, which prohibits Indiana utilities from shutting down coal-fired plants before May 2021. Why are we bailing out the coal industry when we know that it increases Hoosiers’ energy costs and results in higher rates of asthma, allergies, and heart and lung diseases?
